Screenshot text detection

Use an AI detector on an iPhone screenshot

Extract text from Photos, Messages, social apps, or a printed page and check it without retyping the passage.

A screenshot is often the fastest way to save writing from a message, social post, web page, or document that cannot be copied. AI Detector can turn the visible text into an analyzable passage through OCR.

The extra recognition step matters. A detector only receives the extracted text, not the original pixels, layout, or visual context.

Capture a clean image

Crop out navigation bars, timestamps, usernames, reactions, and unrelated messages. Keep the full sentences and paragraph order visible, with enough contrast and resolution for accurate recognition.

If the passage spans several screenshots, preserve the correct sequence and avoid repeating overlapping lines.

Review OCR before detection

Names, punctuation, line breaks, and similar-looking characters are common OCR failure points. Compare the extracted text with the screenshot and correct recognition mistakes.

Do not intentionally change the writing style during cleanup. The goal is to reconstruct the original passage faithfully.

Use enough continuous writing

One caption or short message rarely contains enough patterns for a useful classification. Several complete sentences or paragraphs give detectors more evidence.

Separate interface text, comments by other people, quoted material, and hashtags from the main writing.

Understand what the result can show

The result describes text patterns associated with AI generation. It cannot identify who took the screenshot, prove authorship, or determine which app produced the content.

Important: AI detector scores are probabilistic writing signals. They do not prove authorship and should not be the sole basis for a high-stakes decision.

Frequently asked questions

Can I detect AI text directly from Photos?

Yes. Import a screenshot or photo, extract the text, verify it, and then run the check.

Will a blurry screenshot change the result?

It can. OCR errors alter the passage, so use a clear image and review the extracted text.

Can a screenshot prove someone used AI?

No. A detector score is probabilistic and a screenshot does not establish authorship.
